This is almost like eating dessert first, but to me, the most exciting news from the Detroit NMRA National Train Show was the announcement of the all new Bachmann Berkshire in HO scale. The loco will initially be available in Nickel Plate Road, Pere Marquette & C&O with two road numbers each. Both of the NKP engine numbers have seen renewed life as excursion engines after their retirement. One of the numbers used on the Pere Marquette versions is the number used in the movie, "Polar Express."
First a correction of sorts... I had speculated in my previous post that the engine would be a part of the Spectrum line; it is not. A Bachmann representative told me that the internal parts, the motor, flywheel & gearing, would be the same but the appearance would be a bit less detailed. That is the difference between a $300 engine and the MSRP of $160 that these engines will have. Nonetheless, as you can see from the photos, the engines looked very nice.
Some of the details will be engine specific. For instance, the NKP 759 will sport a Mars headlight while her sister, the 765, won't. That is the way they appear right now. OK, now to the pictures...
That's all for now...

Like the photos of the Nickel Plate Engine just announced this week by Bachmann.
Incidentally, also this week in the September Trains Magazine is a feature on a railroaders show in Fostoria. Were you aware of that.
