These two photos were sent to me by my friend Dave who is a Nickel Plate modeler like me. But his chosen timeframe is back in the late 1920s so his choice of rolling stock is limited since most manufacturers simply don't offer models from that era in HO scale. No problem for Dave as he likes to build many of his car models from scratch.
This is a great example of his work as the car pictured here is pretty much scratchbuilt from the ground up. Except for thingss like the trucks, wheels, couplers and brake wheels, everything else has been fabricated by hand. He has learned to do resin casting and many of the parts like car ends & roofs, he casts himself. Dave even makes his own decals.
Dave also has one other advantage in that his layout isn't going to be all that big so his car fleet won't probably be numbered in the hundreds. As such, he can spend more time on each car and end up with some really nicely detailed cars that he can be very proud of.
Great work Dave!
