MILLER CITY — Columbus Grove put together an impressive 24-point second quarter and coasted to a 68-54 Putnam County League girls basketball victory Saturday over a Miller City squad which canned 14 of 29 shots from 3-point range.
The Bulldogs (6-5, 2-3 PCL) led just 13-10 after one quarter, but blew the game open with a 24-12 edge in the second period.
Columbus Grove saw 10 players reach the scoring column, led by Jodi Birkemeier’s 11. Courtney Diller added 10 and Genna Carpenter 9. Morgan Kohls grabbed 6 rebounds.
Jessica Schnipke led Miller City’s 3-point barrage with 5 en route to a 19-point effort. Ashley Schroeder added 13 points and 6 rebounds, Schnipke also had 6 rebounds and Stacey Schroeder led the Wildcats’ board play with 7.
Carrie Griggs scored 9 points and had 9 assists for Miller City.

With 5.7 seconds left in the game Arcadia’s Fleegle grabbed an offensive rebound, was fouled as she scored to tie the game, and made the foul shot for the 37-36 win over Lakota.
Katie Boes scored a game-high 13 points and recorded 4 steals. Fleegle scored 12 points, and recorded 8 rebounds, 7 steals, and 3 assists for the Redskins.
Cami Wasserman scored a team-high 11 points for Lakota. Wasserman also recorded 5 rebounds. Katy Garber pulled down 7 rebounds.

Findlay High School’s girls basketball team hung in against Centerville in the first half before the Elks pulled away in the second half for a 47-32 non-conference girls basketball win over the Trojans Saturday afternoon.
Centerville (7-6) led 23-17 at halftime before taking the Trojans (4-10) out of the game by outscoring them 24-15 in the second half.
The Trojans had their troubles shooting the ball. They connected on just 13-of-32 from the field and 6-of-17 from the foul line.
Centerville’s Emily Crayfcraft was the only player for either team to reach double figures as she netted 18 points.
Findlay’s Jonnette McQueen popped in 9 points and Andrea Mitchell and Ashley Sottoway both added 6 points.
The Trojans will try and get in the win column Tuesday night when they travel to Mansfield Senior.

The Rockets still trailed 22-18 at halftime before finally getting the lead in the third quarter after outscoring Bluffton 10-5.
Taylor Hermiller led the way for Pandora-Gilboa (9-3) as she netted 11 points to go along with 5 assists and 3 steals. Jessica Lehman chipped in 12 points with 5 assists for the Rockets.
Bluffton’s Jonica Schmutz scored 9 points and Amanda Stratton was limited to 8 points as the Pirates slipped to 9-5.

Beth Behnfeldt led Napoleon with 12 points, while Brooke Zachrich had 11 and Chelsea Smith 10.

The unbeaten Eagles (11-0) used a 19-9 third quarter advantage to pull away from Ottoville for a 72-56 non-conference boys basketball win over the Big Green Saturday night.
Liberty-Benton led just 36-31 at halftime before taking control of the game with its third quarter spurt.
Aaron Craft led the way with 25 points and Andy Smith and Derek Recker both chipped in 19 points for the Eagles.
Brad Turnwald led three Ottoville players in double figures with 13 points. Jacob Landin netted 12 points with 6 rebounds and Keith Pohlman added 11 for the Big Green (4-8).

Jordan Basinger recorded a double-double for Kalida by scoring 19 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Kahle added 10 points.
