Fostoria High School graduate Micheaux Robinson is having a terrific season for the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Pioneers of the Arena Football League 2.
He one of the top defensive backs in the league this season. Robinson, a 5-foot-9, 178-pound rookie defensive back, is second in the 29-team AFL2 with 12 interceptions for the Wilkes Barre-Scranton Pioneers. The Otterbein College product has returned four picks for touchdowns, registered 471/2 tackles and has broken up 15 passes this season.
Robinson played for the Orlando Predators of the AFL during the 2007 season. He recorded 38 tackles, broke up three passes and forced a fumble in 15 games. He played briefly for Cincinnati and Calgary in the National Indoor Football League.
Pretty impressive for a small defensive back coming from an NCAA Division III program not considered a football power.
An interesting side note, I have a Google News search set for “Findlay” and “Fostoria” and a news story from Wilkes-Barre popped up about a brawl at last weekend’s Pioneers game.
Fostorians Lionel Robinson, 30, and Michael Schultz, 24, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct along with Cheryl Lord, 40, of Swoyersville, Pa.; Omari Brown, 22, of Landover, Md. and Jelani Brown, 28, of Port Republic, Md. after a brawl broke out around 9:42 p.m. during last Saturday’s game against the Manchester Wolves, police said, and those involved were removed from the arena. No one was seriously injured.
Two Wilkes Barre players, including Micheaux Robinson, has to be restrained from going up into the stands and entering the fracas.
Here’s a video of the brawl from a local TV station. And a column on it from the Wilkes-Barre Times Leader
