I wrote a story for today's Courier about book lovers' "guilty pleasures," the things they like to read that are maybe escapism rather than more intellectual literature. I was struck by two librarians I interviewed who both said, in essence, not to be ashamed of such reading but to simply seek out books you love to read and enjoy them.
The article can be found here.
Anyway, I thought I'd throw the question out to Page by Page readers: what are your guilty pleasures? I like fantasy, have lately been dabbling in mystery, and am also known to read romance. At the same time I do also seek out more "literary" books -- I try to alternate something escapist with something more intellectually challenging.
Do you have any reading "guilty pleasures"? What are they?
Also, don't forget -- the Page by Page Book Club will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at George House! Please come!
Call me a late bloomer, I love to read Dr. Seuss and Shel Silverstein. Green Eggs and Ham is my favorite book and I think my daughter took it with her to college.
