Gia and Jake, episode 1
Readers, I'm angry. Confused. Saddened. How could Jake send Gia home? I don't know what he was thinking. Typically, I don't become enraged about the choices the Bachelor/Bachelorette makes until the season finale. My rage came early this season. And I'm aiming it at Jake. If he thinks Vienna will be a safe choice for a fiance, I think he's quite naive. (For instance: anyone who feels the need to tell the world how happy a person she is all the time is probably not actually all that happy.)
But tonight Jake said, "Probably more-so than with any other girl, Vienna and I have had a very natural affection," and, "I see a lot of myself in Vienna." With regard to Tenley, he said, "With you I can just be myself. And haven’t had that with anybody."
I commend Gia for being as big of a person as she was when she spoke with Jake after he eliminated her. She reassured him about the remaining women, and didn't try to fight his decision to eliminate her, even as she had tears in her eyes. Few people on this show handle heartbreak with such class.
So I'd like to endorse Gia as the next Bachelorette. I think she'd be a perfect choice, most of all because of how genuine and sincere she seems to be. I hope ABC offers her the opportunity.
And I suppose it goes without saying that I now hope Jake picks Tenley. Then again, I'm disappointed enough in him at the moment that I think I care less now than ever. Blah.
Gia for Bachelorette!

I was also completely shocked when I watched this episode. First, I was shocked that Jake did not let Ali come back. Rightfully so, she chose to leave and that is the choice she had to deal with. Next shocker came when Jake eliminated Gia! What was he thinking. She was probably the best match for him. I am not a Vienna hater, I actually like her more than I did in the beginning of the season, but she is still so young and there is just something about her that does not say "lifetime commitment". As far as Tenley goes, she is super sugar sweet and reminds me of one of the Brady Bunch girls. I get the feeling that she is not completely over her ex husband because we have to hear about him every show! So I have lost interest (somewhat) in the show's finally, but as always I will get sucked into watching it. But for Jake's sake I hope he picks Tenley or the Bachelor will have yet another failed season with no marriage.

I know exactly what you mean when you say something about Vienna "does not say 'lifetime commitment'." I think it's that she acts immature and naive every time she's interviewed on camera. At first I thought it was just her way of trying to be cute for the camera, but now I'm starting to think it's how she really is, which is worrisome.
And who knows what will happen in the finale now that the preview shows both Tenley and Vienna looking upset at proposal/rejection time?

How does one expect to ever be with someone for the rest of their existence when they meet on a seasonal show? I avoid these sort of shows for the simple reason that I do not agree with them. They must be entertaining, because there is a large fan base, but watching women have their heartbroken on national television, doesn't feel right.

I cant believe he sent the brunette home. I mean he obviously just wants a blond. But i would be happy to console Gia on her loss.

I do not understand why everyone get mad when they pick blonds, it is not suppossed to be about looks. He is picking them because they are certainly more interesting.
