May 2009 Primary
Hancock County Republicans will pick a nominee for Findlay Municipal Court judge in Tuesday's primary election.
Whoever wins will face no Democratic opposition in the November election.
Seeking the judgeship are Jonathan Starn, Don Rasmussen, Garth Brown and Kelton Smith. Judge Kevin Smith is retiring.
Voters throughout Hancock County, except for Washington Township and Fostoria, will decide the race.
Washington Township and Fostoria are outside the jurisdiction of Findlay Municipal Court; they are served by Fostoria Municipal Court.
In the only countywide tax issue, voters will decide whether to renew a five-year, 2.5-mill operating levy for Blanchard Valley Center.
School taxes are on the ballot in McComb, Vanlue, Liberty-Benton, Van Buren, Arcadia, Bluffton, Fostoria, Carey and North Baltimore school districts.
Twenty-five percent of Hancock County's 53,566 registered voters are expected to go to the polls, county Elections Board Director Jody O'Brien said.
