I FINALLY have the siding finished on TisaWee. Woohoo!!!! With all of the printing on the tyvec housewrap, I didn't realize how plain and boring the house is when it is all one color. Now I'm thinking I need shutters or something. But that's going to have to wait...I have more important needs, like running water, electricity, etc. Just the little things, ya know!?
I've also been working on the retaining wall that will be along the side of the sidewalk. It was finally finished last weekend, too. What a hot couple weeks to be working on outside stone work! But I'm SO happy with the finished result. My next goal is the sidewalk, which will look like cobblestone, or field stone, and I'll have mosses and low plants between them.
My son says life would be much easier if I just liked "normal" things, like poured concrete sidewalks, and stacking concrete retaining walls.
So, things outside are progressing. I need to get some grass started, but it's still way too hot. I'd like to start a fall veggie garden, too, but I think that will probably have to go on the "next year" list. Just no time! Every time I go in the grocery store and see the price of lettuce and peppers, I just cringe! I'll just have to be satisfied with the blackberries and peaches for this year.
I'm still waiting for the first peach from the trees this year. They are loaded, but still really hard. One of the trees is nice and .... peachy....red and getting plump, but the other three are still tiny, yellow, hard fruits. Hopefully they ripen before a frost!
In the meantime, I'm dog-sitting for 2 different family's dogs. 3 dogs, in addition to mine. Oh my. I mean, OH. MY. If I ever say "yes" again when they ask me, just shoot me now. More about that later....
