Randall Job

I believe that keeping priest from marrying is a pointless idea. I understand it is meant to keep them focused on god and his work but i believe that through a godly and loving marriage it can actually help someone be closer and understand god more. While also providing these men with more incite into the average persons life.

I believe that celibacy does contribute to sexual abuse, as is evidenced by the same type of harm occuring with Buddhist monks and their students.

I also believe that anyone's who is married can tell you it brings you closer to God. You have to pray or you'd go crazy.

Missy

Somewhere in the Bible it says that a priest is to be the husband of one wife. Why doesn't the Catholic church recognize that men have needs and that in order for a man to exemplify Christ,"men love your wives as Christ loves the church" they need that one relationship with a woman. I honestly believe that men who molest children whether priests or not are simply wolves in sheeps clothing. They are imposters and repugnant. Not all priests are child molesters. Because of their choice to molest and their respected position in the church and their availability to children they should be made an example and castrated. Anyone who molests a child should have their genitals removed, and, if it was their eyes that caused them to sin, their eyes blinded, thus removing the "near occasion of sin" Amen. There is no excuse for pedophiles, it is a premeditated act.

Destiny

I believe that priests should be allowed to marry. The congregation is allowed this right, so who is the Vatican to deny the same right to the priests who teach the word of God. I believe the Vatican would be sorely surprised at the number of priests that are hiding a relationship.

Josh

To keep sacred priests and their practices, they should not be allowed to marry. They have devoted their lives to god and their focus to his teachings. If allowed then everyone would want to be a priest thus losing the meaning of being one.

Nikki Lein

Why shouldn't a priest get married? They are people just like everyone else, except they teach the word of God to the people. So, why not give them the same rights as everyone else.

Sara

I think priests should be allowed to marry, they are citizens just as anyone else yet they are denied their rights for the sake of their commitment to God. God wants people to find happiness in their lives, why shouldn't priests be allowed that happiness.

Missy

I guess some people think that if you make a sacred vow you have to be celibate? Why can't married people make sacred vows? Marriage? It was not always this way in the early church. Men in the ministry were instructed to have one wife. Paul exorted men that if they could not be celibate that they should marry so as not to burn. burn from desire? Whatever. You can still be dedicated to God with a capital G and be married.

Drummera

I personally think they should be able to marry. But it a way, devotion can make people do crazy things. Monks in the middle ages use to castrate themselves in order to rid themselves of lust. But interpretation on the doctrine said that was acceptable. Of course, interpretation is the key word there. All in all let 'em marry before they start cutting things off again!
